The blue marble background has to go, it's too teenage girlish! It makes me think that I will be reading a post about how "hot" Duncan from the pop spectacular group Blue is and how you want to be the next Mrs Duncan Blue - Not that you probably want to be!
But Yeah if you want a blue black ground how about a nice marine blue background with black type?

My 40+ eyes are having a hard time with the background. Could you ghost it a little, or use a light solid instead?
Although, as a designer, I should tell you that "design by committee" never works, so ultimately follow your own instincts--it's your blog after all!
I've looked at it from a few different angles now. Whichever way I try none of them say 'war - landmine - amputee'. I keep thinking of Camberwick green, or was it Chigley? with all those puffs of smoke.
Lose the little fluffly clouds, bring back the old foot image, or something and I'd go plain white background, but you need an 'anchor' 'logo' and the foot thing kinda worked like that. But, heh, it's your blog not mine.

From my computer screen "the blue background" looks purple, like blue mixed with pink. But if you like a blue background, would it be possible to have a color of blue like of a clear sky? And the black written words change to white to soothe the eyes. As for the pink color, if you would like to include it, perhaps it goes better with the word "Link."
It's pretty but a bit feminine. It's easy on the eyes, though.

I'm not trying to be anonymous, I just can't remember my user name of password.
I'm looking at the world through old glasses on even older eyes
Anyway the newest background looks like piles of bodies at Aushwitz or some other concentration camp. Only the picture looks somewhat, "arty" to me. Blurry and a color change to a black and white photograph.
If it makes you feel any better, my shrink keeps a loaded revolver close at hand. He's done that since the, "ink blot incident".

Looks fine. Very easy on the eyes.
I have neither dyslexia nor am I recovering from a brain injury but I have become increasing aware of how user-friendly materials can revolutionise the experience of reading the written word for those coping with such challenges. It takes so little to do and also actually makes it easier for everyone to read print, it being far less tiring on the eyes. So… pause for deep breathe… black print on a strongish colour is good. I am no expert but if you are interested I could give you further information. It is so easy to do and can make such a difference.
Thanks for asking and thanks for the blogg. Enjoy reading it a lot.
