19-year-old kids are being sent to be blown up in Baghdad, and the BBC invites us to mourn the death of a 102-year-old woman who liked painting and travelling and lived a life of luxury and idleness at the taxpayers' expense.
Note to Americans: please do not make fools of yourselves with messages like the following. They don't impress anyone, and they just get on our wick. Thank you.
"As a Yank living here in this wonderful country, let me add my prayers to those of many in thanksgiving for this quiet soul who served the United Kingdom, the Empire, and the Commonwealth so well for so long."
.
Stephen Stillwell, Lampeter, Wales
What a wanker.
Don't be such a trendy!
When John Peel died it was R.I.P, flags at half mast at BNI. When actually most under 25's though sorry that the man had died, were not that touched by his legacy.
The same scenario goes with Princess Alice though the majority of people may be non-plussed by her death to be people who were alive in WW2, her passing does probably mean something.
Stuart you also know that on BBC talking points there are normally times when there are hardly any responses.
With that have fun in the US.
Most of the people posting to that BBC 'send us your tributes' thread are clearly mentally ill. I didn't know they had internet access in loony bins now. Take this post:
"I feel sad about the death of Princess Alice, for although I never met her, I wrote her a letter last year and I got a very nice reply from her lady-in-waiting. It's amazing to think on the things that she lived through and the huge events - such as the abdication - which she was close to. It seems a shame that more people do not know that she was the oldest royal ever.
S.Forsyth, UK"
So what kind of loony writes a letter to a 101-year-old woman he's never met?
Or this one:
"God bless the family at this time. I am sure she will be deeply missed by those close to her. Yet another reminder to us all that the royal family are normal people and need as much support as ourselves. Press - give them a break at this time!!
Sean Harris, Newcastle upon Tyne"
A break? They'll be leaving for their winter skiing holidays soon. Note the double exclamation mark, a sure sign of retarded mental development.
But it appears that Alice may at some time have visited one of our fine lunatic asylums, as evidenced by this post:
"A lady with a beautiful soul who I shall miss. She taught me to paint dewdrops on flower petals and I have done so ever since.
Alice Yardley, Kent, England"
I keep waiting to hear that Princess Alice doesn't actually exist and this is just an elaborate Chris Morris spoof to expose the fawning imbecility of royalist wankers everywhere.
I would like to thank the BBC for allowing the common people to comment on the death of poor Princess Alice. Otherwise people like me in the colonies would never get to see the insane ravings of the royalist nitwits, and the wonderful and hilarious comments of Stewart's fans.
