I understand that the US military authorities are anticipating a criminal investigation following an incident in Fallujah filmed by NBC correspondent and blogger Kevin Sites.
Sites' report appears to show an American marine shooting dead an unarmed and wounded Iraqi in a mosque in Fallujah.
The Iraqi was one of five wounded prisoners left at the mosque after Marines fought their way in on Friday and Saturday.
Pooled TV footage shows a Marine saying "He's fucking faking he's dead. He faking he's fucking dead."
The Marine then apparently raises his rifle and fires into the man's head.
The timing could not be worse for the US military. Amnesty International has just warned that "the rules of war protecting civilians and combatants have been violated in the current fighting in Falluja."

I can't believe it's taken so long for this to be revealed. It's ridiculous. This has been the standard behavior since Apr. 2003. Remember the Palenstine Hotel? What about that? How about the wedding that was bombed? The helicopter that fired on unarmed anti war protesting men, women, and children? How about the helicopters firing on civilians trying to escape across the Euphrates? How about the nurses and doctors that were killed in the hospital that was bombed last week? The dozens of families shot when convoys passed them on the streets all last year? And on and on and on...Why all of a sudden all this attention?? I say it's just a tactic to draw out aggression that was waning. They want to keep the attacks coming while they're in kill mode. It just doesn't make much sense that after 9 days and dozens of similar incidents taking place all over Fallujah, they wait until the battle is pretty much over.
Stuart, in comparison with your site, Kevin's site gave more opportunity for comments. Kevin's site administrators have censored (deleted them) appropriate comments from people regarding this film, including war veterans thoughts on their own experiences in the situation. The anti-American comments remain. I find this inappropriate. If Kevin felt strongly about this Marine's decision, why didn't he step up and give his opinion, he could of easily said "Hold Off, I don't think he is faking, let me check him over". Previously, I enjoyed getting news from Kevin's site until he released this film. I printed off many of the comments and stories of the veterans and family members writing in, so my children could read them. Maybe, Kevin doesn't care what people think including the family members of the 3/1 that wrote to him often and trusted him as a decent reporter. I imagine our Marines are still offering him protection for his journey home. What a "thank you" they get.
