After the piss poor performance of England's two-legged footballers against Denmark this week, there's all the more reason to cheer a team that really deserves to wear the Three Lions.

England's Amputee football team is preparing for tomorrow's semi-final clash against Brazil in the World Amputee Football Championships.

Unfortunately, you can guarantee that even if they go on to lift the cup on Sunday, you won't be reading about it in the sports sections of Monday's newspapers.

Bad news for England supporters, semifinal results:

Brazil 6 - 1 England

Brazil passes to the gold medal round, England plays for bronze. I don't have the score from the other semifinal match, but suspect England's opponent for the bronze will be Ukraine. England defeated Ukraine, 1-0, in the round-robin phase of the tournament, as if that means anything (England defeated Brazil, 1-0, in the round-robin, so history clearly didn't repeat). Russia is the other final-round team, but I don't know whether they defeated Ukraine in their semifinal match. Hard to imagine Russia losing to Ukraine, though.

I didn't know anyone else had any interest in this tournament...
