The Guardian article I read thankfully portrayed a human view of the hostage takers: "I heard a captor in the corridor answer his mobile. He laughed and sounded relieved and opened the bolted door and said, 'I am going to let you go'."
Here in Japan Persians and Arabs are some of the most sophisticated thinkers I've ever met. It's a relief to see the "raghead" style of journalism is on the wane.
