Last year I wrote about Scott Rogers, an above the knee amputee who was at that point planning to walk the entire length of the Appalachian Trail.
Unfortunately, AP reports that Scott was forced to suspend his hike after 230 days and nights on the trail -- and just short of the 2000 mile mark -- for personal and technical reasons.
Even so, it's still one heck of an achievement.

Wow Stu you did it again.
That was an amazing story, I can't imagine doing a walk like that even with two legs under me. I have a friend who is blind and did a ten month walk from Aushwitz to Hiroshima to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the dropping of the A bomb. I will see if I can get him to post something about it. What my friend and Scott have in common is an astoundingly positive view of life and it's possibilities in spite of their disabilities!
Best regards from the benighted states of America.
