OK, so the blue/purple/pink background (which was actually a patch of ground on a photo taken in Iraq, cropped and then photoshopped) went down like a fart in a spacesuit -- so I've replaced it with a very light marbled effect (does it need to be lighter?), just to give the page a little bit of texture.

I hope it makes me look less like a girl.

I've also swapped things around on the left hand side, putting the features before the archives (good idea, Alex.)

Not a girl, I would say more an ardent reader of BBC Good Homes Magazine

This "very light marbled effect" background looks awful grey. How about light oak? :-) Sorry. This is not helful.

The original background looks better.

Blue,Purple,Pink looks familiar.

Go for the modest look...it doesn't frighten the cat.
The colours from Greece will look superb.

Stuart Sorry to tell you but this new background is just awful. No zip -no zing. Much too washed out and wimpy. I do not know how to tell you to change it other than to say "Back to the drawing board, please"

eech. didn't see the blue/purple/pink background, but the light marbled effect doesn't get my vote either - even setting aside aesthetics, it makes it hard to read your wonderful words!:-)
