In a desperate need for retail therapy, I've just gone out and bought a 40Gb iPod -- largely because I went out for a drink with a friend the other evening and spent most of my time drooling over his.
It's a thing of rare beauty.
I've already uploaded more than 2 days of Dad Rock onto it -- and there's plenty more to go.

You'll NEVER fill 40gb - 20gb would've been plenty!
Hi Stu,
I got the new 40 Gb iPod a couple of weeks ago too.
He's right — I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to fill it with songs. I realized I don't even have 10,000 songs in our entire CD and downloaded collection, much less 10,000 songs I like enough to have them in my iTunes library!
But I also use the iPod to carry all my contact info: emails, addresses, phone numbers, etc. Which is nifty. Although I haven't actually needed to consult my iPod for that so far.
Also, I put in all my appointments in the iPod.
You can also use it to store any data you want — photos, etc.
I was really going to buy the 20 Gb, but since I wanted the Dock as well (not included) I figured for a little more I could get the 40 Gb.
Why get the Dock? Because when you use your iPod to play music on your home stereo it sounds slightly better connected from the Dock rather than directly to the iPod. That way, the sound doesn't have to go through the iPod's volume control.
Cheers.
