Given the events of the past 24 hours, I found the following quote from Reporters Without Borders regarding the Romanian hostages just a little ironic:

"By demanding the withdrawal of Romania's troops from Iraq, kidnappers are once again putting journalists at the center of an unbearable act of blackmail," the statement, faxed to The Associated Press, said.

I know what it's like to be a journalist at the centre of an act of blackmail.

As Daster appears to be a Blogger member he's technically in breach of Blogger's Terms of Service:

Member shall not interfere with another Member's use and enjoyment of the Service or another entity's use and enjoyment of similar services.

So come on Daster, how would you feel if your blog was shut down as a result of your stupid actions? Does that give you an idea of how Stuart felt when you hijacked his blog?

We now know what (some) journalists do when threatened with blackmail.

Give in.

Never mind, you're in good company.

Stu,
I linked to this blog from a discussion involving hackers and have been quite suprised. I was planning to email you but then found out that daster has your email passwords as well?
I know little about you, other than that you work for the BBC, and less about Daster, other than that he is Romainian, apparently frequents Romanian hacking circles, and is possibly a blogger as well. (This much can be gathered from the comments on your blog.) Therefore it may be that some things I say are in error. Most likely not, however.
Uber-hackers don't exist, except in movies. Perhaps you used a simple, easy to guess password. Or perhaps there is a know vulnerability with blogspot's software (I don't know, I don't blog here!) Whatever the explanation, it is unlikely that the Met will be able to help. It is also, thankfully, unnesesary. Threats against your family, your phone line, internet access, or your credit card are at best laughable. Most of the time these systems are not connected to the Net, making any hacking attempt by even a super-hacker pointless and futile. The ones that are, are way to well protected.

Stu, change your passwords. If this continues, perhaps move to a different blog provider. Then carry on life as normal -- Daster has no more tricks up his sleave.

BUCHAREST (Reuters) - An Iraqi who plays soccer for a club in Romania has offered himself as a hostage to kidnappers in his home country if they will release three Romanian journalists they are threatening to kill.

"If I were sure that the Romanian journalists would be released, I would offer myself in exchange," Salih Jaber, a striker with second division Gloria Buzau, was quoted as telling the Romanian newspaper Pro Sport on Tuesday.

An armed group had said it would kill the three journalists if Bucharest did not by Tuesday pull out troops it has stationed in Iraq as part of the U.S.-led occupation. It has not done so.

Jaber, who defected to Syria as a teenager to escape Saddam Hussein's rule, has played for Iraq's international A team since the U.S. invasion that toppled the dictator two years ago.

The 22-year-old was anxious to assure his Romanian hosts that most Iraqis did not approve of kidnapping: "My people are quiet and my countrymen don't do these kind of things."

Journalists Marie Jeanne Ion, Ovidiu Ohanesian and Sorin Miscoci were seized in Baghdad on March 28 along with their translator Mohamad Munaf. On Friday, the journalists were shown in a video tape aired by Al-Jazeera television, which said they would be killed if Romanian troops had not left in four days.
